Take a position in equities, lend through bonds that pay you coupons, or buy an ETF and hold a whole basket at once. Every order you place moves the market, and a big one moves it more.
BID IN IPOs
Put in for a new issue and wait for the allotment.
Bid inside the price band, up to the per-team cap. Your cash is held while the book is open. If the issue is oversubscribed, lots go by lottery, so a bid is never a guarantee.
TRACK YOUR BOOK
Cash, holdings and net worth, updating as you go.
See what you hold, what it is worth now, and what your team is worth in total. Every order stays in your trade history, so you can see exactly how you got there.
WHAT THE ROUND FEELS LIKE
The market only moves while a round is open.
Trading starts when your organizer opens a round and stops when it ends. In between, news lands without warning, and a stock that runs too far too fast trips its circuit band and says so.
Some events set a minimum number of orders per team, so sitting the round out carries its own risk.
